Flora's Fear of the Dark
Flora the firefly was a tiny, twinkling light. But she was scared of the dark! When the sun went down and the sky turned black, Flora would hide under a big, green leaf, shivering.
"Why are you hiding, Flora?" asked Chester the cricket, chirping happily.
"I'm scared of the dark!" whimpered Flora. "It's so big and empty!"
Chester chuckled. "But the dark is full of magic!" he said. "Come with me, I'll show you."
He led Flora to a field of tall grass. The moon was shining, making the grass look like silver. "Look!" Chester pointed to a tiny, glowing mushroom. "It's a moonflower! It only blooms in the dark."
Flora gasped. The moonflower was so beautiful, with petals like tiny stars.
"And listen!" Chester chirped. "Can you hear the owls hooting?"
Flora listened. The owls were singing a soft, lullaby song.
"The dark is full of sounds and wonders," Chester said. "It's a time for dreams and quiet magic."
Flora looked around. The dark wasn't so scary anymore. It was full of beautiful things she couldn't see during the day.
From then on, Flora wasn't afraid of the dark anymore. She knew it was a special time for magic and wonder. And she loved to share it with her friend, Chester the cricket.
