Opening image for the story
Ellie the elephant was a little nervous. Today was the day she was going to get her special "superhero shield"! Her mommy said it was called a vaccine, and it would keep her safe from getting sick. But Ellie was scared of needles! "Don't worry, Ellie," said her friend, Leo the lion. "It's just a tiny prick, and then you'll be a superhero!" Ellie's ears perked up. A superhero? That sounded fun! At the doctor's office, Ellie held onto her mommy's trunk tightly. The doctor smiled and gave Ellie a colorful sticker. "This is your superhero shield," she said. "It's like a magic potion that makes your body strong and keeps away the bad germs." Ellie felt a little pinch, but then it was over. She got another sticker, this time a sparkly one! "Now you're a superhero, Ellie!" Leo cheered. Ellie felt brave and strong. She knew her superhero shield would protect her from getting sick, so she could play with Leo and all her friends. They could run, jump, and slide without worrying about getting sick. Ellie was so happy to be a superhero! She knew that vaccines were like magic shields, keeping her and her friends safe and healthy so they could play together forever.
